Olbia, July 10 (LaPresse) – More disruption in the skies over Gallura. For the second time in three days, airspace above Olbia has been closed due to a wildfire that broke out in the afternoon near Su Trambuccone, close to the Sassari-Olbia state road. Just last Tuesday, flights had already been suspended for about 45 minutes due to another blaze threatening incoming flight paths. Today’s situation proved more serious: airspace over the inland area was temporarily shut, forcing inbound flights to divert to airports in Cagliari, Alghero, and Rome. Geasar, which manages Olbia’s “Costa Smeralda” airport, confirmed the facility remained open for departures, as the fire only affects the approach route for landings. Meanwhile, nearly all aircraft on the ground have left the airport, while firefighting operations by ground teams and aerial units continue.
