Rome, 10 July (LaPresse) – Mystery surrounds the death of a 48-year-old man named Adriano Gneo, found dead on 2 July at around 6 p.m. below his home in Via Pietro Cardella 18, in the Grotte Celoni district of Rome. According to information obtained by the LaPresse news agency, investigators, coordinated by the deputy public prosecutor of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, Claudia Alberti, who are investigating the case as a homicide, believe that before falling to his death, the victim had a violent argument with a man who chased him to the condominium terrace, from where he then fell, possibly in an attempt to escape his attacker's fury. According to the prosecutor's office, the motive for the crime was a €60,000 debt that the victim allegedly owed to Pierpaolo R., 59 (under investigation on suspicion of murder – ed.). Before being punched, the attacker had gone to the victim's home, where he lived with his elderly parents, to inform his father of the alleged debt. According to the person under investigation for murder, the 48-year-old had made bank transfers from Pierpaolo R.'s account, who had asked him to make the payments on his behalf, but the money had been diverted elsewhere. However, this version of events does not convince the investigators. The man under investigation is known to the police for drug dealing and possession of weapons. During the search, various items were seized from the suspect's home, including a computer and electronic payment cards. During the forensic examination, it emerged that the 48-year-old deceased had a hole in his buttock consistent with a pellet fired from an airsoft gun. The incident is reminiscent of the one that took place in Magliana, where the Apulian PR agent “Ciccio Barbuto”, aka Francesco Vitale, was killed in the same way, also over a debt.
