Terracina restaurant floor collapse, renovation documents acquired

Rome, 9 July (LaPresse) – The documentation and plans relating to the renovation work on the Michelin-starred restaurant “Essenza” have been acquired, as submitted by the surveyor appointed by the contractor. This is a key step in the investigation opened by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Latina after the collapse of the floor on Monday evening, which caused the death of 31-year-old sommelier Mara Severin and injured others present. The first suspects will soon be registered with the Public Prosecutor's Office. The public prosecutor Giuseppe Miliano, who is in charge of the case, will appoint a consultant to ascertain the causes of the structural failure. The checks will cover both the previous renovation work and the most recent maintenance work carried out in January 2025, the documentation for which was submitted to the technical office of the municipality of Terracina. The investigation, currently against persons unknown, is looking into the offences of manslaughter and grievous bodily harm. An autopsy on Mara Severin's body is scheduled for tomorrow and has been entrusted to the medical examiner in charge.
