Milan, 5 July (LaPresse) – Fatjon Gjonaj, an Albanian citizen accused of criminal association for international drug trafficking, returned to Italy yesterday, landing at Fiumicino airport at 6.15 p.m., escorted by personnel from the International Police Cooperation Service. The search was launched on the orders of the investigating magistrate at the Court of Milan following investigations conducted by officers from the Milan Mobile Squad and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office. The measure stems from a second line of investigation by the Mobile Squad, led by Alfonso Iadevaia, as part of the investigation into the ambush suffered by Enzo Anghinelli on the morning of 12 April 2019, for which Daniele Cataldo, considered the perpetrator, was sentenced to 10 years on 17 June, on the orders of the leader of the Curva Sud ultras of Milan, Luca Lucci, for the attempted murder of the drug trafficker, who was left for dead with four gunshot wounds to the head. Gjonaj, 32, a resident of Malaga and believed to be an associate of the former head of the Curva Sud in international drug trafficking, had been on the run since December 2024. On 3 June, he was located and arrested by the United Arab Emirates police.
