Pope: ‘Today we are losing the ability to truly listen’

Rome, 5 July (LaPresse) – ‘Today, we often lose the ability to listen, to truly listen. We listen to music, our ears are constantly flooded with all kinds of digital input, but sometimes we forget to listen to our hearts, and it is in our hearts that God speaks to us, that God calls us and invites us to know him better and to live in his love.’ These were the words of Pope Leo XIV in his greeting to Catholic school teachers in Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland and to young people from the Diocese of Copenhagen. ‘Turning to you, dear teachers: what I have just said to young people also applies to you, especially in view of your important role in the formation of today's young people: children, adolescents and young adults. For they will look to you as models: models of life, models of faith,’ the Pope continued, emphasising that young people look at ‘how’ teachers teach and live.
