Milan, 28 June (LaPresse) – ‘Prime Minister Orban has called on everyone to respect the law, ordering compliance with the ban on demonstrations during Pride. We will be in Budapest today with a delegation from Eumans to demonstrate in violation of Orban's ban, which is completely illegal. It is in fact the Hungarian Prime Minister who is not respecting the law, as freedom of association and demonstration is a fundamental right recognised in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union’. This was stated by Marco Cappato, founder of the European movement Eumans. "Precisely to discuss the civic initiatives to be taken to enforce democracy and the rule of law in Hungary and throughout Europe, this morning we held an open civic assembly attended by activists, parliamentarians, lawyers and citizens from all over Europe. Among the proposals on the agenda is the suspension of Hungary's voting rights in the European Council and the creation of a statute for “European associations” in order to overcome the obstacles and boycotts faced by civil society organisations in Hungary and other European countries," Cappato added.
