Vatican City, June 12 (LaPresse) – "I ask you with a father’s and a shepherd’s heart: let us all strive to be credible and exemplary priests!" This is the appeal of Pope Leo XIV to the clergy of Rome.
"We are aware of the limits of our nature, and the Lord knows us deeply," continued Prevost. "But we have received an extraordinary grace, and we have been entrusted with a precious treasure of which we are ministers, servants. And faithfulness is required of a servant.
None of us is immune to the temptations of the world, and the city, with its countless distractions, may draw us away from the desire for a holy life, leading to a downward levelling where the deep values of the priestly vocation are lost.
Let yourselves once again be drawn by the call of the Master, to feel and live the love of that first hour—the love that moved you to make bold choices and courageous sacrifices.
If together we try to be exemplary in a humble life, then we will be able to express the renewing power of the Gospel for every man and woman."
