Rome, June 6 (LaPresse) – Aggravated harassment and extortion are the alleged crimes for which the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has registered G.C., an agent of the Rome Capital Local Police, as a suspect. He came to public attention through various newspapers and national TV after reportedly asking two female drivers for their phone numbers in exchange for canceling parking fines. The officer, serving in the First Prati Group of the Rome Capital Local Police, allegedly also harassed the women, according to complaints filed by political activist and feminist Flavia Restivo and another alleged victim. Deputy Prosecutor Francesco Marinaro, according to LaPresse, has issued a search warrant for the suspect’s home, vehicle, and office, which was carried out on June 4. Investigators seized the suspect’s mobile devices, including his phone and computer, as well as other materials deemed relevant, though details remain confidential. The internal investigation, delegated to the Rome Capital Local Police, has been extended to other areas, and dozens of people have been interviewed as witnesses, including local business owners in the Prati district and near the Vatican. The case was also covered by the TV show "Le Iene." According to investigators, there may be many victims of the alleged catcalling by the officer.
