Milan, June 4 (LaPresse) – The family of Chiara Poggi "has been the target for weeks of a relentless defamation campaign by media outlets and on social media, which sadly has not even spared beloved Chiara. Last night, the TV show Le Iene even insinuated a supposed romantic relationship between Chiara and an ‘adult man’, relying on outdated statements by a deceased person, which were already considered completely false at the time." This is what the lawyers for the family of the 26-year-old woman murdered in Garlasco on August 13, 2007, Gian Luigi Tizzoni and Francesco Compagna, stated, announcing that "the Poggi family will take all appropriate legal action to protect Chiara’s dignity and honor."
"The continuous overlap between leaks—real or presumed—regarding the investigation and the fictionalized reconstructions freely made by various parties," Tizzoni and Compagna continued, "has led to the uncontrollable spread of all kinds of insinuations, in total disregard of the facts and of the respect owed to every individual involved in these events." The two lawyers expressed hope "that the relevant authorities will also help put an end to such repeated unlawful conduct."
