Migrants, first meeting between Pope Leo XIV and Mediterranea Saving Humans delegation

Vatican City (Vatican), May 31 (LaPresse) – A delegation from Mediterranea Saving Humans, led by onboard chaplain Don Mattia Ferrari, took part yesterday in an audience with Pope Leo XIV, who wished to meet with the secular and Catholic movements and associations of the Arena of Peace, with whom Mediterranea has long walked the paths of justice and peace. Also participating were activists from 'Refugees in Libya.'
"Rescuing people, welcoming them, and saving them from shipwrecks and pushbacks means giving substance to that fraternity which, as the Pope said, must be discovered, loved, experienced, proclaimed, and witnessed," said Mediterranea’s chaplain. "Thanks also to the extraordinary support of Pope Francis, today we have a new rescue ship. With it, we will put into practice—concretely and not just in words—what Pope Leo told us yesterday, to whom we express our deepest gratitude for once again showing us a Church attentive to the least and to those who suffer from injustice and the horrors of this world," concluded the NGO.
