Vatican City, May 28 (LaPresse) – "Before being believers, we are called to be human." These were the words of Pope Leo XIV during the Wednesday general audience at the Vatican. In his catechesis, the Pontiff reflected on the parable of the Good Samaritan, emphasizing that compassion, "before being a religious matter," is "a matter of humanity." He further stressed: "Religiosity has nothing to do with it here. The Samaritan simply stops because he is a human being in front of another human being in need of help. Compassion is expressed through concrete actions." He added, "We must grow in humanity so that our relationships are more genuine and filled with compassion." The Pope reiterated that "the other is not a package to be delivered, but someone to care for."
