Frankfurt (Germany), 23 May (LaPresse) – The new 50% tariffs on European products threatened by US President Donald Trump ‘do not help anyone’. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, responding to a question during a press conference with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. ‘These tariffs help no one and only damage the economic development of both markets,’ Wadephul commented. ‘We will continue to pursue negotiations and support the European Commission. We want to defend Europe and the European market, while at the same time exercising our power of persuasion in America,’ the German minister added.
