Milan, 19 May (LaPresse) – "Dear Mayor, I read that the theatre named after my father in your town hosted an international meeting of European far-right parties (neo-fascists and Nazis). If you intend to continue hosting events with racist and illiberal slogans in a place of culture, I ask you to remove my father's name from the aforementioned theatre." This is the message sent by Alessandro Gassmann to the Lega Nord mayor of Gallarate, Andrea Cassani. The reference is to the Remigration Summit, the gathering of the European far right that took place on Saturday morning in the town in the province of Varese, inside the theatre named after Vittorio Gassmann. “My father had relatives who were deported and killed by the Nazi-Fascists. Thank you,” added Alessandro Gassmann in an Instagram story.
