Pope Leo XIV: ‘We are living in dramatic historical times’

Rome, 17 May (LaPresse) – ‘On issues of such importance, the Social Doctrine of the Church is called upon to provide interpretative keys that bring science and conscience into dialogue, thus making a fundamental contribution to knowledge, hope and peace.’ This was stated by Pope Leo XIV this morning during a meeting with members of the Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation. ‘Already Pope Leo XIII, who lived in a period of momentous and disruptive transformations,’ added the Pope, "had sought to contribute to peace by stimulating social dialogue between capital and labour, between technology and human intelligence, between different political cultures and between nations. Pope Francis used the term “policrisis” to evoke the dramatic nature of the historical moment we are experiencing, in which wars, climate change, growing inequalities, forced and contested migration, stigmatised poverty, disruptive technological innovations, and precarious work and rights converge."
