Vatican City (Vatican), 16 May (LaPresse) – In order to build peace, it is ‘necessary to give breathing space to multilateral diplomacy and to those international institutions that were conceived and designed primarily to remedy disputes that might arise within the international community’. These were the words of Pope Leo XIV as he received the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See in audience.Of course, there must also be a willingness to stop producing instruments of destruction and death, because, as Pope Francis recalled in his latest Urbi et Orbi message, “no peace is possible without true disarmament [and] the need for every people to provide for its own defence cannot turn into a general arms race”," added the Pontiff.
