Milan, May 14 (LaPresse) – In Bologna, officers from the "Due Torri-San Francesco" police station arrested a 66-year-old Italian man for carrying out 28 apartment burglaries by posing as a plumber.
The investigation was based on complaints filed by the victims, their photographic identifications, and surveillance footage from residential buildings. Bank camera footage also helped confirm the suspect's identity. The man is under investigation for multiple aggravated home burglaries, fraudulent use of payment instruments, and identity theft. He repeatedly used the same method: he entered victims' homes—mostly elderly people (21 of the victims were over 65 years old, including 9 over 80)—by pretending to be a plumber sent by the building manager. He would take advantage of their distraction to steal valuables. In many cases, he managed to obtain the victims’ card PINs and withdrew money until the cards were blocked. His repeated actions earned him approximately €15,000. The thefts took place between May 2024 and January 2025.
