Milan, May 4 (LaPresse) – “It was a known situation, the family was being monitored, our social services had been alerted for some time, and the situation was under control.” These were the words of the mayor of Settala, Massimo Giordano, speaking outside the house where a 43-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her 50-year-old husband in front of their 10-year-old daughter last night. “All control and assistance procedures had been activated, and I cannot go into details,” said the mayor, stressing that the services had been monitoring the situation continuously. “What I want to tell you now is that I know that a minor has been protected in the immediate aftermath and our services are already working on the case involving the minor daughter, which is what matters most to us at this moment.” ”This is a time for mourning. There are no words to describe this femicide, the umpteenth one,” continued Giordano, who defended the actions of the municipality: ”I believe that everything our administration did was perfectly in accordance with the procedures and that nothing more could have been done.” According to reports, social services had met with the woman recently and there were no outstanding issues regarding the children: “I understood that the situation was not conflictual. The child did not need help from social services, the mother was perfectly capable of looking after her.”
