Pescara, April 29 (LaPresse) – A formal request has been submitted to the mayor of Pescara, Carlo Masci, to name a square or park in the Adriatic capital after Sergio Ramelli “as a tangible act of recognition for his sacrifice and his commitment to democratic values.” The announcement was made by the Abruzzo MP Guerino Testa. The proposal was welcomed by the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Fabio Rampelli, who confirmed he will attend the naming ceremony.
“We wanted to send a strong and clear message against oblivion and an invitation to collective reflection on the need to always oppose any form of political violence,” said Andrea Cocchini, provincial coordinator of FdI Pescara.
On April 29, 1975, young Ramelli was killed in an ambush by a group of left-wing extremists, Cocchini added. “A murder that marked a tragic moment in Italian history, symbolizing the ideological violence and intolerance that characterized those years. Sergio Ramelli stands as an example of courage and consistency, a young man who firmly believed in his ideals and paid the ultimate price for them,” the coordinator concluded. “His memory must be passed on to future generations as a testimony to the value of freedom and to emphasize that democracy is a precious asset that must always be defended with commitment and determination.”
