Palermo, 29 Apr. (LaPresse) – The Carabinieri of the Ros have enforced a precautionary detention order issued by the Court of Palermo – at the request of the local Anti-Mafia District Direction – against Antonio Messina known as ‘the lawyer’, who is under investigation as a participant in cosa nostra: in particular, for having managed the proceeds of the economic activities of the Mafia family of Campobello di Mazara, guaranteeing Matteo Messina Denaro's economic sustenance, and for having maintained relations with Mafia associates from different territorial branches in the province of Trapani, aimed at acquiring economic activities. Messina 79 years old, a ‘sleeping’ freemason, already a fugitive and convicted for outside participation in cosa nostra and drug trafficking, was referred to in the correspondence between the boss and Laura Bonafede under the pseudonym ‘Solimano’, who in passages ‘with a very high mafia density’ reserved harsh criticism for him.The suspect was placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. Searches are currently underway in the provinces of Trapani and Bologna.
