Rome, April 26 (LaPresse) – St. Peter’s Square is beginning to fill with faithful as the funeral of Pope Francis is set to begin at 10 a.m. Attendance is estimated to exceed 200,000. Crowds are also lining the approximately 6-kilometer route from the Vatican Basilica, through the city, along which Bergoglio’s coffin will be carried to Santa Maria Maggiore, where he will be buried. The first dignitaries to arrive at St. Peter’s Square were former U.S. President Joe Biden and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Also in attendance is the Russian delegation, led by Russian Minister of Culture Olga Borisovna Lyubimova. Numerous giant screens have been set up around the city, not only in the Via della Conciliazione area, but also in Piazza Pia and Piazza del Risorgimento.
