Bad weather: Ticino river overflows in Pavia, dozens evacuated

Milan, April 18 (LaPresse) – The Ticino River, already being closely monitored due to high water levels, has overflowed in Pavia. Dozens of people are currently being assisted by firefighters, who are evacuating them with inflatable boats to safe areas or delivering essential supplies. Firefighters are also helping residents recover personal belongings from flooded homes using the boats. The area most affected by the overflow is the 'Borgo Ticino' neighborhood, near Via Milazzo, which lies close to the river. A Local Command Unit has been set up in Piazzale Ferruccio Ghinaglia to coordinate the efforts of firefighters, Civil Protection, law enforcement, and local authorities. Around ten families have been assisted so far.
