Milan, 11 Apr. (LaPresse) – The Libra, a ship of the Italian Navy, has just arrived at the port of Shengjin, in Albania, with 40 migrants of various nationalities on board, transferred from Italy to the Gjader CPR centre. Disembarkation operations will begin shortly, while a large number of Italian law enforcement officers are present on the pier. A delegation from the Immigration and Asylum Table (TAI) is also present at the port. ‘We are here to monitor the procedures applied and to denounce the violation of the rights to which these people are subjected. With this transfer, the right to defence, to personal freedom and to family unity are seriously compromised, from our point of view’, explains Francesco Ferri of ActionAid.
