Rome, April 1 (LaPresse) – For the Church this can be ‘a precious and fruitful time’ for the pastoral choices of the coming years. So said Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin during his homily at the Mass for the second Synodal Assembly of the Churches in Italy in St. Peter's Basilica. As reported by the Vatican media, Parolin went on to update the message of today's Gospel, which ‘speaks to us of a sick man, a slave to a condition that has become chronic. This seems to be the image of the condition in which humanity and also our Europe finds itself today. Afflicted for too long by the tyranny of vested interests, it is paralysed by the dynamics of violence and war, which also have absurd repercussions on the political and economic level'.
