Milan, March 26 (LaPresse) – New areas of Milan have been included in the "red zones" established by the prefectural ordinance. The committee, chaired by Prefect Claudio Sgaraglia in the presence of Milan's Deputy Mayor Anna Scavuzzo and Rozzano's Deputy Mayor Maria Laura Guido, has decided to revise the urban areas affected by the measure, extending the restrictions to the following zones: Via Padova, where security has recently been reinforced with mobile police units and dedicated intervention teams; Colonne di San Lorenzo, a popular gathering spot for young people due to the presence of numerous venues, often frequented by individuals engaged in drug dealing, leading to situations of degradation and crime; and the "dei Fiori" district in Rozzano, which is undergoing redevelopment to combat urban decay, social vulnerability, and youth distress. The extension and prolongation of the ordinance aim to improve citizens' safety, enhance their perception of security, and combat criminal behavior more effectively. Prefect Sgaraglia emphasized that the measure seeks to protect urban livability and public space accessibility, especially considering the increasing social activity and the growing number of tourists during the summer season, which is also marked by intensified nightlife and a higher presence of people in public areas.
