Turin, March 18 (LaPresse) – "We must disarm words, to disarm minds and disarm the Earth. There is a great need for reflection, calmness, and a sense of complexity." This is what Pope Francis writes in a letter to the director of Corriere della Sera, Luciano Fontana, sent from the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, where he has been hospitalized since February 14.
"Dear Director, I want to thank you for the words of closeness with which you expressed your presence during this time of illness, in which, as I have said, war seems even more absurd," the letter reads, published by the newspaper.
"Human fragility, in fact, has the power to make us more lucid about what lasts and what passes, what gives life and what kills. Perhaps this is why we so often tend to deny limits and avoid fragile and wounded people: they have the power to question the direction we have chosen, both as individuals and as a community."
