Florence, 14 March (LaPresse) – The current weather alert for hydraulic risk has risen to ‘red’ for the provinces of Florence, Prato, Pistoia and Pisa. The decision was taken by the Unified Operations Room of the Regional Civil Protection following a meeting of the crisis unit. ‘The weather situation that led us to issue yesterday's alert is confirmed and has now determined the need to raise the level of attention to red,’ said the President of the Region of Tuscany Eugenio Giani and Monia Monni. ‘We recommend the utmost caution to the population. The regional civil protection system is fully operational and we are constantly monitoring the evolution of the situation, in coordination with all the local authorities. ‘The red alert will officially come into force from 12 noon today, but the population is urged to exercise the utmost caution and limit their movements as of now. The river Arno is under special surveillance in these hours. The road sections from Florence to San Casciano of the Fi-Si motorway link road and the A1 between Scandicci and Impruneta are already closed due to the consequences of the bad weather. The ss 67 and via Colognolese closed between Pontassieve and La Sieci. Railway service interrupted on platform 1 at Campo di Marte station.
