Pope Francis, Professor Alfieri: "He is not out of danger"

Vatican City, Feb 21 (LaPresse) – "The Pope is not out of danger, he is an 88-year-old man, and he moves in a wheelchair. They have started a therapy, but it's not always easy to balance them, it's not an easy job." This was stated by Dr. Sergio Alfieri from the Gemelli team regarding Pope Francis' health. "The Pope is in good spirits and present. He has always wanted us to tell the truth. The Pope is like an 88-year-old man who entered the hospital, and it was possible to isolate the microorganisms. There are many viruses, fungi, and bacteria. The chronic illness remains," Alfieri added. "The Pope is not in life-threatening danger. He is not connected to any machines. When he needs it, he uses a nasal cannula for some oxygen, but he is breathing on his own and eating," the professor continued. The Pope will remain hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital "at least for the entire next week," Alfieri concluded.
