Livorno: Cassation Court Confirms Life Sentence for Piombino Killer Nurse

Rome, February 18 (LaPresse) – The judges of the Fifth Criminal Section of the Court of Cassation have rejected the appeal filed by the defense of Fausta Bonino, the former nurse of the Piombino hospital, effectively confirming her life sentence. She was accused of deliberately causing the death of four patients by administering massive doses of heparin. This morning, the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation, Antonio Balsamo, had requested confirmation of the life sentence for the former nurse. In the first trial, she had been accused of killing ten patients, but the judges of the Livorno court sentenced her to life imprisonment, recognizing her responsibility for four deaths.
