Shengjin (Albania), January 28 (LaPresse/AP) – The Italian Navy ship Cassiopea arrived this morning at the port of Shengjin, Albania, carrying 49 migrants intercepted in international waters. The asylum seekers on board the Cassiopea are predominantly from Bangladesh, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Gambia. The disembarked migrants will be taken to the reception center in Gjader, approximately 22 km from the port of Shengjin.

This is the third transport of migrants to Albania following two previous cases in October and November, when asylum seekers were returned to Italy after a decision by the Rome tribunal rejected their detention.
