Rome, 9 Jan (LaPresse) – The judge for preliminary investigations at the Court of Latina, Barbara Cortegiano, has ordered immediate trial for Antonello Lovato, the agricultural entrepreneur co-owner with his father of the Latina farm, who was arrested last June on charges of the intentional homicide of farm labourer Satnam Singh, who died in Cisterna di Latina on 17 June after a machine used to spread plastic sheeting on the rows in the fields severed his arm. His employer, instead of calling for help, loaded him onto a van and dumped him dying in front of his house. Shortly afterwards Satnam bled to death. The first hearing in the trial, according to La Presse news agency, has been set for 1 April in front of the Latina Assize Court. Eight civil parties will attend the trial, including, in addition to the victim's wife and relatives, the secretary general of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini.
