Rome, Jan. 4 (LaPresse) – According to the national edition of La Repubblica, two new suspects have reportedly been identified in the murder of Piersanti Mattarella, the president of the Sicilian Region, who was killed on January 6, 1980, outside his home in central Palermo. Investigators are said to have identified two of the perpetrators. For the murder of Mattarella, the brother of the President of the Republic—who was the first to attempt to assist him at the time—the members of the Cosa Nostra "commission" that ordered the killing have been convicted. Meanwhile, neo-fascists Valerio "Giusva" Fioravanti and Gilberto Cavallini, initially named as the perpetrators, were acquitted.
