Rome, Aug 20 (LaPresse) – Two more deaths and eight new cases of West Nile virus have been reported in the Lazio region, bringing the total number of fatalities to 12. The latest victims are an 84-year-old man from Latina and an 87-year-old woman from Cassino, both with pre-existing conditions. The eight new cases, confirmed by Rome’s Spallanzani Institute, include two patients with neurological symptoms, five with fever, and one asymptomatic blood donor. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in 2025 to 182, mostly concentrated in the Latina health authority area.
