Rome, 12 May (LaPresse) – Environmental crimes in Italy have reached almost 7,000 in 10 years. This is the figure reported by Legambiente and Libera on the tenth anniversary of the law on environmental crimes. In particular, 6,979 environmental crimes were recorded between 2015 and 2024, one for every three checks carried out since crimes against the environment were introduced into the Criminal Code by Law 68 of 2015. ‘The data collected confirm the importance of a law approved after 21 years of delays,’ observe Legambiente and Libera, ’a reform of civilisation. Now the missing laws must be approved, starting with the transposition of the European directive on the protection of the environment under criminal law.’
