Cinema, Rome pays tribute to Bud Spencer with films and memories

Rome, June 15 (LaPresse) – Ten years after his passing, on Thursday, June 18, Rome will dedicate an evening to Carlo Pedersoli, better known as Bud Spencer, one of the most beloved faces of Italian cinema. 'A Life with Bud, One More Evening with Carlo' is the event the city is dedicating to the actor and athlete, whose filmography has become part of the collective imagination of several generations. The event will take place at the Casa del Cinema, in the Ettore Scola Arena, and will begin at 8:30 p.m. with institutional greetings and remarks from the Pedersoli family. Speakers will include Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome Capital (confirmation pending); Svetlana Celli, President of the Capitoline Assembly; Massimiliano Smeriglio, Councillor for Culture of Rome Capital; Antonio Stampete, Member of the Capitoline Assembly; together with Giuseppe and Cristiana Pedersoli. At 9:00 p.m., the focus will shift to dialogue and memories: a meeting dedicated to the figure of Bud Spencer through cinema, television and personal testimonies. The talk will be moderated by director and documentary filmmaker Fabrizio Corallo and will feature Marco Tullio Barboni, Massimo Ghini and Ricky Tognazzi. At 9:45 p.m., the evening will continue with the screening of 'They Call Me Trinity', the comic western directed by Enzo Barboni that marked one of the most popular moments of Bud Spencer's career and of the duo with Terence Hill. Born in Naples on October 31, 1929, and deceased in Rome on June 27, 2016, Carlo Pedersoli was first an international-level athlete and then one of the leading figures of Italian popular cinema. The first Italian to swim the 100-metre freestyle in under one minute, he built a second artistic career spanning more than forty years. From 'God Forgives… I Don't!' to 'Odds and Evens', from 'Watch Out, We're Mad!' to the 'Flatfoot' saga, up to 'They Call Me Trinity', Bud Spencer brought to life simple and recognizable characters that became part of Italian and international popular culture. The initiative is organized in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura. Free admission while seats are available.
