Milan, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – “Freedom of expression is not, and will never be, freedom to defame, to engage in media pillorying or to systematically destroy people. What has been spread in recent hours on the web and on social platforms not only has nothing to do with the truth, but not even with journalism, with the right to report or with the free expression of thought. It is the reiteration of extremely serious falsehoods, insinuations and accusations devoid of any foundation, lies that damage the reputation of a publicly listed company and, even worse, of many individuals, shamefully involving their families as well. We are faced with a method that normalizes hatred and verbal violence, fueling a climate of contempt not only for the truth, but also for human dignity. This is not informing. This is not exposing wrongdoing. This is monetizing and profiting through insult.” This was stated in a note by Mediaset, which “firmly rejects lies, falsehoods and insinuations devoid of any foundation and reiterates its commitment to protecting the individuals, artists, professionals involved and the entire company in all appropriate forums, countering any abuse of the media and any form of hate campaign disguised as freedom of speech.” In recent hours, Fabrizio Corona, in the new episode of ‘Falsissimo’, returned to speaking about Samira Lui and Gerry Scotti, faces of ‘La Ruota della Fortuna’.
