Vanoni, Enrico Ruggeri: “Iconic, she gave weight and charm to singer-songwriter music”

Milan, Nov. 22 (LaPresse) – “The adjective ‘iconic’ is often overused: with her, it is the best way to define her. We had various periods of contact, long phone calls discussing projects that never came to fruition: precious moments in which I appreciated her culture, curiosity, and self-irony. She gave weight and charm to singer-songwriter music, shaping great Italian music for decades.” This is how Enrico Ruggeri remembered Ornella Vanoni in an Instagram post, following her passing at the age of 91. “She soared lightly in a world often petty and competitive,” he added. “It was an honor and a pleasure to have known her: without realizing it, she taught me many things.”

Jovanotti also commented on the loss of the great singer. “Immense Ornella. My favorite Italian album of all time is Ornella Vanoni’s Brazilian album,” added Lorenzo Cherubini in a post. “Immense Vanoni, thank you for everything.”

“Immense Ornella, knowing you and being your friend, talking with you, listening to you, has been a great privilege. You leave an unfillable void but also an invaluable artistic and human legacy. I love you. Safe journey into the cosmic Light, welcome back home, among the stars,” wrote Elisa in a post.
