Rome, 5 September (LaPresse) – ‘Usigrai, the union of RAI journalists, stands with Reporters Without Borders in denouncing the systematic killing of Palestinian journalists in Gaza.’ This was the statement read by Usigrai on a black background at the end of the 8 p.m. Tg1 news programme. ‘At the rate they are being targeted, soon there will be no one left to report on what is happening to the Palestinians still in the Strip. The Israeli government is not allowing international journalists into Gaza, and in this information vacuum, we know nothing even about the conditions of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The blackness and darkness of this statement are what remain when those who report the news are prevented from doing their job in the service of citizens,’ the statement concluded.
