Venice 82: pro-Palestine demonstration today at the Lido, artists also expected

Venice, 30 August (LaPresse) – There is anticipation at the Lido di Venezia for the “Stop the genocide – March for Palestine” demonstration to be held this afternoon, starting at 5 p.m. The pro-Palestine march, organised by a committee bringing together over 200 associations and social centres in the north-east, will start from Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta and move towards the central locations of the Film Festival. For those arriving from outside Venice, the organisers have also arranged for a motorboat, at an affordable price, to depart from Marghera at 3 p.m. The event will also be attended by some of the artists who signed the open letter from the Venice4Palestine committee prior to the Festival, calling for people to “open their eyes” to Gaza and to withdraw the invitation to the Festival from the two actors Gal Gadot and Gerard Butler, whose presence at the Lido was not even planned. The host of the opening night of the Festival, actress Emanuela Fanelli, announced her participation in recent days, as did actor Michele Riondino today. According to rumours in the Festival press room, actress Jasmine Trinca and cartoonist Zerocalcare may also be present.
