Venice, Aug 27 (LaPresse) – "Cinema no longer has the devastating popular impact it once had, but I hope that my film can bring attention back to a fundamental issue such as euthanasia. That’s all I can say." This is what Oscar-winning Paolo Sorrentino told the press in Venice ahead of tonight’s screening of the film La Grazia, in competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, referring to the debate on euthanasia. Regarding the relationship with political power, often a subject of his films, the Neapolitan director said: "Relationships between people are inevitably about strength or power. Making films, I realized that there is also a ritual of power in politics." "The title goes hand in hand with the answer to the question of love," added the Neapolitan filmmaker, "not only the immediate love for the wife and daughter but in a broader sense for institutions, law, and a way of doing politics that, unfortunately, is increasingly outdated, tied to doubt and responsibilities."
