Milan, Aug 27 (LaPresse) – Several theaters in Ukraine have announced the cancellation of performances based on Woody Allen’s screenplays, following Kyiv’s criticism of the American director’s recent video appearance at the Moscow International Film Festival. Ukrainska Pravda reports that in Lviv, the Maria Zankovetska National Theater has decided to postpone the musical Bullets Over Broadway, based on Allen’s screenplay. Additionally, the Olga Kobylyanska Regional Music and Drama Theater in Chernivtsi canceled the show Ex-comedy of a Summer Night, or How Stupid the Whole Human Race Is, which was also based on Allen’s work. In Kyiv, the Youth Theater suspended screenings of Riverside Drive, based on Allen’s play. "We condemn the participation of American director Woody Allen at the Moscow International Film Festival. Culture cannot be a cover for crimes," the theater stated in a press release.
