Los Angeles, July 24 (LaPresse) – Doctor Salvador Plasencia, at the center of the investigation into the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry, has pleaded guilty to supplying ketamine to the Friends star despite knowing he was a struggling drug addict.
He is the fourth of five people charged in connection with Perry’s death to plead guilty. He and a woman, according to prosecutors, were ketamine dealers and faced the most serious charges after Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023.
Standing beside his lawyer, Plasencia pleaded “guilty” four times to four separate counts before Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in federal court in Los Angeles.
The 43-year-old doctor had been scheduled to go on trial in August, until he agreed last month to plead guilty to four counts of ketamine distribution, according to a signed document filed in federal court in Los Angeles.
The charges carry a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison. While it is likely he will receive a much lighter sentence, no guarantees are made in his plea agreement.
