Rome, 17 June (LaPresse) – Tom Cruise will receive an honorary Oscar 25 years after his first nomination for the prestigious award for “Born on the Fourth of July”. The award will be presented at the Governors Awards. In addition to Cruise, the Academy announced that choreographer Debbie Allen, production designer Wynn Thomas and singer and actress Dolly Parton will also receive honorary Oscars. Parton will also receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her decade-long commitment to literacy and education. ‘This year's Governors Awards will celebrate four legendary personalities whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our film community continue to leave a lasting mark,’ said Academy President Janet Yang in a statement.
