Rome, June 9 (LaPresse) – Minister of Labour and Social Policies Marina Calderone today formally delivered in Geneva, on behalf of the Italian Government, the instrument of ratification of the 2014 Protocol to the International Labour Organization Convention on forced labour. With this act, Italy officially completes the ratification of all the ILO’s fundamental normative instruments, consolidating and strengthening its full support for the international system of labour standards. "The delivery of this instrument of ratification provides concrete and tangible confirmation of Italy’s frontline commitment to promoting the fundamental principles of labour and human rights," Calderone said on the sidelines of the ceremony. "In an international context that is profoundly complex, marked by radical transformations in the labour market and the emergence of new vulnerabilities, we believe it is essential to firmly reaffirm a key principle: forced labour cannot and must not find any place in our economies, our value chains and our societies. This day," the Minister concluded, "demonstrates the determination of the Italian Government to firmly combat every form of exploitation, coercion and abuse. We will continue to work resolutely to promote decent work, legality and social justice, both nationally and on the global stage, alongside international institutions and social partners."
