Milan, 6 May (LaPresse) – The Italian Competition Authority has launched an investigation into certain companies within the Glovo group (Glovoapp23 S.A., Foodinho S.r.l. and Glovo Infrastructure Services Italy S.r.l.) and an investigation into Deliveroo Italy Srl for possible unlawful conduct in relation to the provision of food delivery services. The Antitrust Authority announced this in a statement. The companies, the statement explains, are alleged to have presented, in their communications to consumers (for example, in their code of ethics and on their websites in the ‘about us’ sections), a corporate image based on compliance with ethical standards and social responsibility that does not correspond to reality. In particular, this relates to working conditions and compliance with the law in the management of delivery riders, with reference also to the operational model and the algorithm used by the two companies. Yesterday, officials from the Authority, with the assistance of the Special Antitrust Unit of the Guardia di Finanza, carried out inspections at the premises of Foodinho S.r.l. and Glovo Infrastructure Services Italy S.r.l., and at the premises of Deliveroo Italy Srl.
