Milan, Nov. 26 (LaPresse) – The Antitrust Authority has launched a precautionary procedure against Meta for abuse of a dominant position. The Authority stated in a note that, according to the Antitrust, the new contractual terms of WhatsApp Business Solution Terms, introduced on October 15, and the integration of new interaction tools or Meta AI features in WhatsApp, could limit production, market outlets, or technical development in the AI Chatbot services market.
“The Italian Competition Authority has expanded the investigative procedure initiated against Meta Platforms Inc., Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, WhatsApp Ireland Limited, and Facebook Italy S.r.l. – collectively referred to as Meta – concerning the WhatsApp Business Solution Terms. These terms will, starting October 15, 2025, exclude Meta AI competitors from the WhatsApp platform in the AI Chatbot services market,” the Antitrust note reads.
