Rome, Nov. 6 (LaPresse) – “Indeed, the IRPEF cut benefits wealthier families. Our analyses support this interpretation,” said Claudio Vicarelli from the Istat service for data analysis and economic, environmental, and social research, responding to questions in the Budget Committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate on the budget law. Simulations presented during the hearing show that over 85% of the resources are allocated to families in the richest quintile of the income distribution: over 90% of the richest fifth and more than two-thirds of the fourth fifth benefit from the measure. The average gain ranges from €102 for families in the lowest quintile to €411 for those in the richest. For all income classes, the benefit results in a change of less than 1% of household income.
