Naples, Sept. 26 (LaPresse) – The new generation Frecciarossa 1000 arrives on Italian tracks with a preview trip on the Rome-Naples high-speed line. Trenitalia's (FS Group) high-speed train, which is more technological, more sustainable, and increasingly international, will officially enter service on Sunday, September 28. With an investment of over €1.3 billion, 36 trains will arrive, with an option for ten more and an average delivery rate of ten trains per year between now and 2029. The renewal of the train fleet, in order to guarantee an increasingly modern, innovative, and sustainable service, is one of the key objectives of the FS Group's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. The presentation trip was attended by the CEO and General Manager of the FS Group, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, and the CEO and General Manager of Trenitalia, Gianpiero Strisciuglio. Designed by Hitachi Rail and manufactured at the production sites in Pistoia and Naples, the new Frecciarossa 1000 trains are designed to travel not only in Italy but also on seven European rail networks: France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Technologically more advanced than the previous fleet, the three new trains can reach a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour and are approved for 360. They are also equipped with an advanced traction system that improves efficiency.
