Fitch raises Italy's rating to BBB+, outlook stable

Turin, 20 September (LaPresse) – Fitch raises Italy's rating to BBB+ from BBB. The outlook is stable. A statement explains: "The upgrade reflects greater confidence in Italy's fiscal trajectory, supported by a growing track record of fiscal prudence and a strong commitment to meeting short- and medium-term fiscal targets under the new EU fiscal framework. A stable political environment, continued reform momentum and the reduction of external imbalances further strengthen Italy's credit metrics. These factors mitigate the risks arising from high public debt and growing external challenges.‘ Fitch also estimates ’0.6% growth for Italy in 2025, accelerating to an average of 0.8% in 2026-2027 (compared to a “BBB” median of 2.5%)." “A lot of study, a lot of work. Serious and reserved. We have put Italy back on the right track,” commented the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti.
