Milan, 27 August (LaPresse) – Consumer confidence in Germany continued to weaken in August. The Gfk consumer confidence indicator forecasts a decline of 1.9 points to -23.6 points in September compared to the previous month, when it stood at -21.7 points. This is the third consecutive month of decline. ‘Growing fears of job losses are causing many consumers to remain cautious about making major purchases. This further reduces hopes of a strong recovery in consumer confidence before the end of the year,’ said Rolf Bürkl, head of consumer confidence at the Nürnberg Institut für Marktentscheidungen (Nim).
