Brussels, August 21 (LaPresse) – “Tariffs on wine, spirits, and beer were among the EU’s top priorities. Unfortunately, we have not yet managed to include this sector under the Most Favored Nation (MFN) tariff level,” said European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic during a press conference following the joint EU-US statement on tariffs. “I want to stress the words 'not yet', because our U.S. colleagues know how important this is to us.” He noted that the statement includes a paragraph confirming both sides are willing to consider lowering tariffs in other sectors in the future. “These doors are not closed forever,” he added, expressing hope for further progress, particularly in these key categories.
